Ministerial Announcement

Mr Richard Bruton, T.D., Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, announced on Friday 6th January 2012 that as part of his overall plans to reform and consolidate the five existing employment rights institutions into two simplified and streamlined bodies, significant progress has been achieved. New initiatives include the introduction of a single complaint form, a single point of contact and a new interim website. The interim website (www.workplacerelations.ie) will provide information on employment, equality and industrial relations legislation and associated public services. A Single Complaint Form for all individual complaints (including complaints to the Rights Commissioner Service (RCS) of the Labour Relations Commission (LRC)) has been introduced. The new form, which can be accessed from the RCS page of this website, replaces 30 complaint forms. A Single Point of Contact, called the Workplace Relations Customer Services of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation, will have responsibility for, inter alia, the receipt and registration of all first instance complaints that were previously referred to the five workplace relations bodies, including the RCS of the LRC. Further reforms are planned by the Minister. Pending the introduction of those reforms, the LRC's website will continue to operate as well as www.workplacerelations.ie. For the moment, the RCS will continue to process complaints addressed to Rights Commissioners following their receipt and registration by the Workplace Relations Customer Services of the Department
